Incredible map shows every internet-connected device in the world

The internet is often considered to be a universal resource, but just how ‘world-wide’ is it?

This map from Shodan founder John Matherly shows every device connected to the internet around the globe.

John created the map by sending a ping request to every IP address on the internet.

Eastern USA and Europe glow a deep red due to their high levels of internet connectivity, however the map also gives us an insight into internet usage in the developing world.

The east coast of South America and India both have a high number of internet-connected devices, as do Thailand and Indonesia.

There is even a little dot right in the middle of Greenland – a research station perhaps?

Interestingly it actually took John more time to make the actual map than collect the data.

‘It took less than five hours to gather the data, and another 12 hours or so to generate the map image,’ he told Gizmodo.

Women in Hong Kong ‘are staring at the sun to lose weight’

In what must be the oddest new weight loss trend, women in Hong Kong are reportedly staring at the sun in order to lose weight.

Hong Kong’s fitness-mad culture means green juices and hypobaric chambers are no longer just the reserve of the most extreme health fanatics.

But the latest means of staying in shape seems really bizarre.

Women have been spotted staring directly at the sun before sunset on a beach in Sam Ka Village, Coconuts Hong Kong reports.

According to dieters, looking into the sun allows you to absorb solar energy, which means you no longer need calories from food.

Right.

‘We practice sun-gazing as a substitute for eating,’ one dieter told Coconuts Hong Kong.

‘Some of us who have finished the therapy now eat less, and others don’t have to eat at all.’

Some participants say that there is a religious element to the practice.

Incredible Roy Keane look-alike found in Renaissance painting

The mysterious man in the painting by Italian renaissance artist Paolo Veronese - called Portrait of Gentleman in a Fur - looks remarkably similar.

That magnificent beard, the furrowed brow, those dark eyes staring daggers at you.

Everything about this portrait bears an uncanny resemblance to Roy Keane. Except, it's not.

The former Manchester United star's doppelganger has been discovered in nothing less than a Renaissance painting, the Irish Mirror reports.

The mysterious man in the painting by Italian renaissance artist Paolo Veronese - called Portrait of Gentleman in a Fur - looks remarkably similar to the Ireland manager - right down to the grey-streaked beard (though we're not too sure about the fur-lined clothes).

Dated somewhere between 1550 - 1560, the painting hangs in the Galleria Palatina in Florence.

The identity of the man in the portrait is unknown.

The artist - originally born Paolo Caliari - was a Venice-based artist that is considered one of the ‘great trio of painters that dominated Venetian painting’ in the late 16th century.

A photo of the painting was posted to reddit by Deeheefish on September 3.

Kermit Denies Brunette Pig Is His New Flame

Kermit the Frog has taken to Twitter to deny rumours that he has a new girlfriend called Denise.

The Muppets star said he was forced to take to social media to set fans straight after photos emerged of him with the glamorous brunette pig in a new mockumentary series.

Denise is said to the head of marketing for television network ABC.

Kermit tweeted: "Sheesh. I can't believe I already have to do this again... Here is the official statement on my relationship status:

"While I prefer to keep my personal life private, this is Hollywood, so who am I kidding? It is true that I am dating again.

"However, at this time no one woman - pig or otherwise - is my official "new girlfriend". We are simply close friends."

But the news is unlikely to make his former flame Miss Piggy jealous.

She was pictured getting cosy with Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth last week.
