Oculus and Xbox create virtual reality tie-up

Oculus VR has shown off the version of its virtual reality headset that will be sold to consumers, and revealed it will come with an Xbox One controller.

The Facebook-owned company also revealed it is working on its own handheld controller system called Oculus Touch.

The Rift headset will be released early next year. Until now, only a "developer" version had been sold.

It will compete with rival VR headsets such as Sony's Morpheus and HTC's Vive.

Google has made a more basic entry into the market with its Cardboard product, which uses a person's smartphone to create a VR effect.

The deal with Microsoft means Oculus owners will be able to stream Xbox One games to the headset and see them as if they are being viewed on a huge "home cinema" screen.

Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer made a surprise appearance at the event to introduce the partnership.

Xbox One console to run old 360 games

Old Xbox 360 games will be playable on the newer Xbox One console, Microsoft has announced at the E3 games show.

It has developed technology that lets the older games run on the new console "natively".
E3

Microsoft said Xbox One owners will not have to pay again to play the games that they already owned.

100 titles will be available to play when the feature launches at Christmas but "hundreds" more will be available soon after.

The titles will show up automatically in a player's games library when they became available, it said.
Mod making

The press conference also saw Bethesda Studios give some details about the version of Fallout 4 it is creating for the Microsoft's console.

Player-made add-ons, or mods, for the PC version of the game will be able to run on the Xbox One as well, said Todd Howard, game director at Bethesda.

Also announced was a version of Minecraft that has been revamped to run on Microsoft's augmented reality headset HoloLens. The new version turns the flat world into an interactive environment that can be explored in depth. Owners of the original game will be able to join in multiplayer Minecraft sessions seen via the HoloLens.

Jurassic World's Roaring Success At Box Office

Jurassic World, the fourth film in the series that began with Jurassic Park, has gobbled up the competition to score the biggest worldwide box office opening weekend ever.

It pulled in $511m (£329m) globally as it opened in cinemas, according to box office tracker
Exhibitor Relations - eclipsing Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ($483m in 2011).

The unprecedented haul for the blockbuster, which has had largely good reviews, was boosted by the $100m earned in China alone and it topped the box office in 66 countries.

In North America, the film made $204.6m, just short of the record for an opening weekend in the region, held by Marvel's The Avengers ($207m in 2012).

Co-produced by Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two of the four films, Jurassic World returns to the island theme park where scientists first revived T-Rex and other dinosaurs for paying customers over 20 years ago.

Does this explain more than 50 reported UFO sightings in Texas last month?

There have been more than 56 reports of UFO sightings in Texas in the last month alone.
Lenticular clouds

The spate of sightings caused alarm in the state last month, but some boffins reckon they’ve got it sussed out.

Meteorologists have so far disproved theories of a little green men invasion, explaining the sightings are down to something far less exciting: clouds.

Yep, Texans are mistaking clouds for flying saucers. Bless their cottons.

Unusual circular clouds which vanish almost as rapidly as they appear have been repeatedly spotted in the sky over the large southern state.

The round formations are actually ‘lenticular clouds’, which are created when warm moist air is thrust rapidly towards a barrier such as a mountain or even a much cooler area.

Refusing to give up on the thought of alien life, a sighting was filed on the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) of a circular cloud which they suggested was evidence of a ‘cloaked’ UFO.

Fallout Shelter - Mobile Game

Bethesda has announced Fallout Shelter.

This is a mobile game that allows you to play as The Overseer and run the vault.

It has been inspired by games like the sims and looks to be a good fun game.

Sadly at the moment (which has become the standard) this is for iPhone only with Android waiting in the wings to be announced.

Let's hope the Android version doesn't become an iFruit farce.

Fallout 4 given a release date

Looks like Bethesada has treated us to not just some fresh gameplay from Fallout 4, but also a release date.

Yes a release date! The day to pencil into your diaries is 10th November 2015. After much speculation of a 31st December release was dismissed as a "place holder" by the gaming community it looks like we will get our hands on the game sooner than we thought.

Anyway enough waffle.... onto the video.
